This city is know as the Geothermal Wonderland what with all the surrounding areas covered in volcanic activity. And ya it sure is and that attracts plenty of tourists but oh my does the place stink or what! Every few minutes you get a whiff of rotten eggs and apparently it aint the local cafes serving dodgy breakfasts but the sulphur from the volcanic activity.

We visited the local thermal wonderland of  Wai-o-tapu where we saw Lady knott geyser´s daily eruption and also visited the park where we saw what a volcanic area looks like. It was a cool place and well worth visiting.

We also did some mountain biking at the local forest (rent bikes at the entrance) which has proper mountain bike trails. It was a good laugh though after 3 hours of it we really deserved some time in the local thermal baths to sudd our poor muscles. We heard of a 7 meter waterfall drop that we could battle in a raft so we eagerly signed up for this and yes it was a good laugh but it was only 50 mins long and the only difficult bits were going through the waterfalls and nobody seemed in too much danger god darn it! Having said that though the guides were a great laugh and made it for us.
