Today we drove to Bordeaux through the Liore Valley. Once again very scenic with the odd Nuclear Power Station scattered around.
We stopped for 2 hours at the Chambord Chateau (Just a small hunting lodge with approx 400 rooms!). It was again great to walk around and was everything you would expect from a lodge formally used by royalty.

This hunting lodge was only ever used in summer as they could not keep it warm enough with 400 fireplaces.

The highlights were the Michael Angilo designed double spiral stair case in the center of the building which enabled royalty and servants to use the same stairs but never cross paths. (Deb reckons she was the royalty!)
Again there was a summer rain showers that forced us to run for cover.
It was another late arrival with a group dinner and an early night for us after the late one in Paris the night before.
