We are really glad we packed our thermals and waterproofs as lots of rain, plenty of wind and trekking in a blizzard have been features of our stay here in Ushuaia on the island of Tierra del Fuego.

Luckily the last couple of days the weather has relented and we have been able to appreciate the city's spectacular setting beneath the snow-capped mountains on the Beagle Channel.

Highlights here have included a lovely coastal walk in the National Park, a muddy hike through a peat bog to Lake Esmeralda and a bumpy boat trip to a penguin rookery.

We are leaving the cold weather behind tonight and heading for the heat of Buenos Aires.

Happy Birthday Vee. I'm sure this will be one of your more memorable birthdays. The scenery looks amazing from the pictures on here. Have a lovely day, Neil, Karina, George and Harry xx
