Go here.  Go as fast as your legs can carry you.  Quit jobs.  Drop out of school.  Cash in CDs, bonds, futures, trust funds, do whatever you can to get a ticket to New Zealand and then a bus, train, car, or rickshaw if you have to to the town of Franz Josef, South Island, New Zealand.  Then hike the Franz Josef glacier and thank me.

Today was incredible.  I woke up around 8 or so to be at the office by 9, and by 9:30 we were suited up and on the bus to go.  There were six in my group for the full-day hike, and we climbed up, down, and around Franz Josef glacier for about nine hours.  I found myself in crevices barely large enough for me to squeeze through and on top of huge pieces of jutting ice.  I wish I could upload the pictures right now.  It really was phenomenal.  The pictures on Google images don't really do it justice, but I'll try to upload mine when I get a chance.  Who would have thought me, the same kid who hated the revolving restaurant in New York because of the tall elevator, would ever find himself on the edge of precipices with an ice axe in his hand?  Craziness...

Anyway, looking forward to a well-earned pint of Speight's tonight and a big burger if I can find one, then it looks like it's time to hit the road again.  Someplace north of here.  The goal is to hit the Farewell Spit before I have to be on the ferry in Picton on the 12th, so we'll see.
