Hi guys!

I left Cairo on the 6th of June.  In some ways, I still can't believe that the semester is over, even though it's longer than a semester at home.  The last couple of days were good.  I did some more of the stuff that I had always wanted to do, but kept putting it off.  I was lucky enough to be able to stay in an apartment for my last couple of days there.  It was great getting out of the dorms!!

I got into Oxford in the afternoon of the 6th and Branwen met me at the bus station.  After we heaved all of my stuff to her place, she took me around and showed me all around Oxford.  I got to see her college and many of the other ones as well.  We walked past the river and saw crew teams that actually know what they're doing!  That was a lot of fun.  That night we went for a dinner at her college.  It was really interesting.  Oxford is really into tradition so all the students have to wear these black capes/gowns during dinner.  Everyone ate at these really long tables.  It definitely had a Harry Potter feeling to it!  Afterwards, we went to a party at someone's house.  Wines, cheeses, and a whole bunch of PhD candidates chatting.  Slightly overwhelming, but still a lot of fun.  One of the guys there was from Bahrain, so we chatted about Egypt, Arabic, etc.

The next day was spent lounging in the Botanical Gardens and snacking on food.  We then got my suitcase to Mailboxes Etc. and 400 Canadian dollars later, my suitcase should be arriving back in good ol' Burnaby in approximately 7-10 days (Mom and Dad- this info is for you).  And by the way, this is on top of the 55 dollars I had to pay to get it out of Cairo, since apparently I'm only allowed 23 kg to London and not the 46 kg allowed on trans-Atlantic flights.  Thank you very much lady at Travel Cuts for telling me that!!  Whatever, not like I would have been able to do anything differently.  Anyways, the evening was filled with beer and me packing/re-arranging my stuff.

I spent yesterday travelling to Prague where I'm now currently sitting in an Internet cafe.  I love being back here!  But I hate the frustrating Czech keyboards!!!  On that note, I'm out of here.  I'll write more later and keep checking back for photos!

Miss everyone lots!

Katie
