Singapore to Rome

So we had 5 hours to spare before our next flight departed for Rome. If you want to shop, that's great. However we weren't ready to shop (even Toni!). Instead we checked out the facilities available for travellers wanting to rest, which wasn't too successful. First we found the business lounge where, for S$30 you could "nap" for 3 hours. However on investigation, these turned out to be like a YMCA without doors. Simply single bunks separated by partitions and open to the world, it seemed. So, that wasn't a goer. Then we checked out the hotel where, for S$64 you could have a room for up to 6 hours. Great, we thought, that'll do. But there were no rooms at the inn.......bugger.
So we did it the hard way. We waited, and we waited, and then we waited some more. We toured the two terminals. We found a couple of comfy chairs at a cafe and managed to drag out an hour there with a coffee and croissant (bought separately to extend the time we could sit there) and then we ended up in the entertainment zone and watched some TV.
A "discussion" with the head steward soon had us shifted ...
Finally it was time to go again and we prepared ourselves for our longest trip in a plane, ever, and hopefully some sleep on the 12 hr 55min trip to Roma.
The flight itself was great - once we got ourselves shifted again.... After an hour in our original seats some "lovely" gentleman behind D decided we wasn't happy with D having his seat reclined. At this point we were at around 30 hours without proper sleep and so you can imagine how thrilled D was with this......... A "discussion" with the head steward soon had us shifted to the back row where we reclined and snoozed for a good 7 hours without further interruption.
Daybreak saw us coming in over the south of Italy and we flew in low over Roma in clear blue skies and a stunning view of the city and the Colosseum. Toni was cursing herself for having had the camera put away only a few minutes earlier.........
