Mont Saint Michel

July 15, Tue - We took the train from Paris to Rennes then a bus out to Mont Saint Michel.  1300 year old Mont Saint Michel has got to be the most beautiful place in Europe I've ever seen.  I was fascinated by the history, the beautiful abbey and monastery, the beaches, the tides, and the quaint little town.  It was wonderful to explore the thousands of stairs winding up and down through the mont.  We stayed the night at a charming inn, the Mouton Blanc, right on the island and got to experience the serenity of the abbey at the top after all the crowds were gone.  We wandered down through the mont where there were muscians, violinist, flutist, oboe, harpsicord, in different chambers playing on our way down.  It was absolutely beauitful!
