I made it!

I'm finally here!

So here's what happened so far. My lovely and wonderful Gabe drove me to the airport in Chicago, making one quick pit stop along the way for me to puke my guts out while hanging out of his car. I'm not sure what was wrong, I think it was nerves, but anyway, I got it out of my system...pun intended.

My flight went well. My ears hurt, but didn't burst yay! I have now been up for more than 24 hours because when I got into Frankfurt it was 6 am their time and 11 pm Indiana time, so I'm trying to get on Europe time.

I got into the city after meeting a cool guy from Turkey who helped point me in the right direction for trams. Found my hostel, dumped my bag and started walking.

The city was just starting to wake up and it was beautiful. I didn't expect that from Frankfurt, but there is a great Old Town area where I had ... drum roll please... Frankfurters! There is a canal lined with gorgeous trees and park benches. I also checked out Goethe's house and museum (author). I met some people from New York and had a beer with them over our frankfurters and they told me about their trip so far. This whole day has been a lot of walking and stopping at any place that looks interesting, no agenda, no time table, just exploring the city.

It's been really great so far. It's always rough to fly for 9 hours and get into a city where you don't speak the language, but this has been beyond wonderful!

When I got here I remembered why I love it so much. The people are warm, the places are beautiful and I can't wipe a giant smile off of my face! Tomorrow I'm off to Prague.

love to all!

I'm glad to hear your ears survived! I spent all Saturday morning using Google to translate Frankfurt and Munich Opera house schedules for the fall. I think we will be able to see Mozart's Magic Flute. I doubt there will be English subtitles though. Spreche kein Deutsch.
