Yes, there are turkeys in Japan!  Of course, we ate our turkey dinner at a friend's house which was catered by the Officer's club on base.  :)  The drive up to Yokohama was an adventure.  We hitched a ride with a friend...he got pulled over because he "illegally crossed the yellow line."  In other words, he switched lanes a little too late and inadvertently crossed a solid yellow line...something that we do all the time in the States.  Anyhow, he ended up with a $60 fine, which he has one week to pay at either the post office or a bank.  The police officer was incredibly friendly, but rules are rules in Japan!  We then got lost because no one (including the host) knew how to get to our friend's apartment by car (only by train).  Nonetheless, we made it in 3 hours (should have taken us 1 hour)...the turkey dinner was cold, but we had a great time anyhow!  After dinner, we played a few games and then headed out to a karaoke bar.  In case you don't know, most karaoke places in Japan have several rooms with couches, a TV, and 2 microphones.  This way we can sing in a room by ourselves amongst friends.  Unfortunately, we forgot to take pics of the turkey, but as you can see, there are plenty of karaoke pics!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!  We miss you!

Love, Kristin & Phil

p.s. Your Japanese phrase for the day:  "Nama biru" which means "draft beer"

Kristin and Phil: Thanks for sharing your adventures, I am jealous.. but I bet its not all fun and games and it does get chaotic, but you have each other and will get through anything. I'm sure you've already gotten this question, but I need your address to mail a Christmas card and want to get it there soon. Can you send a blanket email to all so we can send you stuff. Thanks, Crisann

YUP...Rules ARE rules in Japan, with no exceptions EVER. Absolutely the thing about living there that annoyed me the most after awhile... Especially when they would put my bike in "bike jail" and I had to go find it among hundreds of bikes and then pay a fee to get it back! Ahhh! Or God forbid, go to a fast food restaurant and ask for an extra packet of ketchup or sauce, and see what they do!! Hopefully that will be your only negative experience with Japanese rules... :) Glad your holidays were happy though, and yes, please send us your new address!!
