Day 2
After a breakfast of bread and laughing cow chees with tea with condensed milk (sweet!) we headed out in the drizzle. We stopped to meet a family who grew mushrooms out of a mixture of limestone, rubber plant and water. However what cught my attention more was the huge python the family kept in a cage! The family had bought it for a million dong and kept it as a pet! Mui told us what to do if you end up with a python round your waist in the jungle! Apparently they always go for the belly button area to constrict your breathing so you are meant to hold a knife in front of you so when the python constricts, it will cut itself in 2! Now you might not always have a huge machete on you so the other option is to bite its tail and it should release itself!! So now you know what to do!
..one woman asked what colour Rob's pubic hairs were!!!!

We continued on to the capital of that province, Buon Ma Thout (pop 1.6 million). This was a strategic city during the war as it was the gateway to the Central Highlands. We took a stroll through the local market, where Mui pointed out foods that were alien to us. On the meat counter, was every part of a pig, including it's feet, tail and oesophogus, which they actually eat!! Pukeville! It was enough to turn you veggie! All the women in the market were looking at us, and wanted to see our eyes (i had sunglasses on). They thought it was hilarious that Rob had hair on his arms as Vietnamese men have no hair on their arms, legs or chest! One woman asked Mui what colour Rob's pubic hairs were!!! They wanted to know about us and now long we had been together. They were shocked that we weren't married as the Vietnamese culture does not allow a man to sleep with a woman before they are married.

After lunch, we stopped at the Serepok river, which is the only river which doesn't join an ocean. It joins onto the Mekong river, which is the 6th longest in the world and flows through 7 countries - Myramar, Tibet, China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia. This was another strategic location during as the war as it allowed the Viet Cong to attack the captal, Buon Ma Thout from here. We continued on to visit the Virgin waterfalls, which were beautiful. We got back on the bike to find out Nip's bike had a flat! It must have been the weight of my bag!!!

That night we watched Vietnam play Finland in the footie, which was a good laugh, as we had 2 Finnish lads with us. Vietnam lost 2-1 but Nip was very funny and was getting worked up shouting 'let's get fun!' and after 8 shots of rice wine, it was fun!!!
