Exactly 5 month since I began my trip, I returned to my initial destination, Copan Ruinas.  The day began in a gigantic panic.  I had lost my battery from my alarm clock, Breanna's clock had gotten re-set, and Kim's alarm (on which we were all relying to wake us up at an ungodly hour of 3:30 am to catch the 4am shuttle) failed to go off.  Thus we were awoken by the hostel's security guard at 4:20am.  Fortunately we had mostly packed up for the journey the night before, but still had a mad rush to find our belongings with flashlights, doing our best (bu failing misserably) to not wake the others sharing our dorm room.  We were pretty grateful that the bus hadn't left without us, but our fellow passengers were not to pleased with us for delaying the departure.

Fortunately, having had a couple beer the night before and taking a motion-sickness pill, I was able to sleep quite soundly for the first few hours of our journey, until we made our first stop for coffee.  Kim and I had only packed day' packs and left our big backpacks with the boys in the van.  By the time we stopped for coffee I realized I had left my credit card behind with my other belongings, and only had a few Quetzal (enough to get me accross the border, but not much else) with me.  Thankfully Kim was kind enough to withdraw some money for me from her account, which I can repay once back in Antigua or El Salvadore.

Once in Copan I returned to the Spanish school I had attended at the beginning of my trip to visit my old teachers and wow them with my Spanish.  It was quite nastalgic being back, seeing the same people, the same beautiful countryside, visiting the same pubs, drinking the same beer, sitting at my "usual" table at ViaVia, being surved by my favorite, "regular" server, and seeing the same cute streets and buildings, with a few recent updates, ie. the huge, Starbucks-style coffee shop just off Parque Central.

We spent one night in Copan, then caught a 6 hour bus back to Antigua to reunite with the Ozzies.
