This is my right leg. Today, with the assistance of my left leg, it propelled me about 60 miles through the Ozarks of Missouri. Despite repeated 50 spf slatherings, the knee grows gradually rosier and frecklier. The shin, today bearing a cut of unknown origin, is covered in dirt and highway grime, not to mention the gnats and other small insects that stick in the sunscreen like it's fly-paper. There is some black greasy residue- a print of my largest gear and numerous small bruises and bug bites all evidence of the daily war waged against the road. And it has grown firm as steel. Sore and tired, my legs have begun to meet the resistance of the road with confidence. All day long they did not walk.

Other notes:

head wind- when one must pedal just to maintain speed while going down hill.

cross wind- when one must bank their bike just to maintain direction on a straight road.

tail wind- a supportive breeze from behind. No cyclist as ever reported experiencing this effect.
