Well today’s the 24th Feb and I have been in Mumbai for just over a week. So far the weather has been amazing, with the average temp at 32C and the sun shining all days long! (Sorry if I’m making you all jealous)

Mumbai was always planned as a simple 2-week trip, just attending a wedding, seeing family and doing some shopping. Overall I felt Mumbai would be a good start to my journey as it will help me to adjust to the way thing will be around Asia.

So what have I been up to? Well after landing on the 18th at 1pm I was taken to a pre-wedding ceremony for a cousin and then to a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party and then back to another pre-wedding ceremony for a cousin! SO by 12-midnight I was f*cked!

Luckily I had a day to relax as the wedding and the reception was not until the 20th.

So, what was the wedding like? Fun!

We started of at 9am at the grooms home, where on arrival we were greeted by live band playing outside in the courtyard. (It was so load I think most of India knew there was a wedding in the area.) Next I taken to tent and had a turban put on which is sad to be tradtional in India. (As you can see in the picture I look great! ok maybe not!) Once everyone was ready the groom came out - at which point all the ladies began to dance followed by all the men, and of course I joined in too. Now i'm not a great dancer, but it was fun joining in (initially dragged in) and getting in to spirit of things! After everyone had danced the groom to the car, which was after 2 hrs, we all drove to the wedding hall where, as you guessed it, all the guest carried on dancing on the 'busy' street until the bride arrived. (i forgot to mention that there was no set time to the wedding, it just starts when the groom get there!)

Now this might sound wacky but this what they do at an wedding in India. They say that the aim of the wedding is for everyone to have fun!

So what happened next? Well a few days after the wedding I was supposed to go to Goa with my cousin, Jugal who I am staying with, but due to the lack of time we decided to go on 2-days 'luxury' cruise (which we returned from today.) Now the only thing I can say about this trip was that it was mostly business men out on a piss up! The ship was amazing, the food was great, even the entertainment was fun! Only bad thing was old perverted men!

SO how has my trip been so far... well I’m having a great time with my family, as I haven’t seen them for years, and I have also been enjoying the weather.

Well I’ve got one more week left here, then on the 3rd March I fly to Singapore so I will send you all an update once I’m there. Hopefully by then I will have something more interesting to tell you!

Take care

Jigar

Sounds like you're having a fab time, Mr J. However you have used the word 'turban' twice in this journal entry and have managed to get it wrong twice, in a different way each time. I almost didn't rise to the bait, but temptation is a cruel mistress. Keep on keepin' on. Andy.
