A short minibus ride away from Kotor is the walled city of Budva, population 10,000, and one of Montenegro's most popular summer resorts.  There are countless hotels in the town, but we again opted for a private room which was comfortable and cheap.

Once we returned from our side trips to Cetinje and Sveti Stefan (see separate entries), we strolled down the Budva boardwalk which lined the beach.  Although tacky in some spots, the boardwalk had numerous bars, clubs, and souvenir stands, all filled with teenagers.

The Venetian old town, protected by the city walls, was much more charming.  Hailed as a "mini-Dubrovnik" by Lonely Planet, Budva certainly impressed.  We visited a wonderful art gallery and enjoyed the laid back, family atmosphere around the old town walls.  One of the lovely churches in the old town was built in the 7th century, while another was from the year 940.  Wow.  That's old.

Rachel wasn't up for a tour of the supposedly crazy Budva nightlife, so I was again out on my own.  Our waiter earlier in the day told us to go to Trocadero, an open-air club on the boardwalk.

I got there pretty early and had a few Niksics.  However, I got tired real fast, and never made it to Trocadero's huge indoor club.  I turned in pretty early, exhausted from our long day and looking forward to the journey into Bosnia the following morning.
