Just a quickie in the 'Dam

I got there about 17:00 from London City to Schipol. Getting the train from Schipol to Centraal Station is really simple, for those of you who haven't done it: the train station is within the airport terminal and you go up to the window and ask for a single or return to Centraal Station. They all speak English.

Now, I've been to Amsterdam twice before and every time, the streets are always being dug up. This was no exception - Damrak, Rokin and loads of little street are AGAIN having extensive work. Something to do with a new metro line, I think.

Just in and out, no time to do much...

Found the hostel ok, checked in ok: you get a package of clean bedlinen and instructions where to find your bunk, and a key for a locker (deposit).

So, found bed, had a wash, went out, found a tatty gay bar and frowned at people. Got charged 50c to use the crappy bogs. Left.

Went to bed and panicked that I wasn't going to wake up at 6:00 for my flight to Moscow (no alarm clock).

Dropped my gloves somewhere in Amsterdam the next morning, got back to Schipol ok, caught plane onwards and eastwards.
