Got up and ate breakfast, said bye to Ashley and Mark and then went walking around Aswan to find a hotel. Found an OK place, dropped our gear and were off. Walked to the Nubia Museum, really nice and well presented.A lot hotter in Aswan then Luxor. Wanted to check out the Old Cataract Hotel but they charge 85 Egyptian pounds for non-guests to visit! Went to a public garden and strolled about then over to Yebu and the TINY museum on that side. Went to the train station, mad house. Finally reached the window only to learn they wouldn't let us buy our tickets for tomorrow till tomorrow! Did some e-mails and went to bed, have to be up at 3:30am!

On the 5th woke up at 3:30 and got on the mini-bus to Abu Simbel. The drive was fairly dull, like the lonliest and most boring parts of the L.A to Vegas drive. Slept on and off. Arrived and only got 2 hours there. Place was a zoo! All the tourists arrive at the same time because we all take the same convoy. More grafitti then we expected but really cool and impressive and definately must see, despite the inconvience. The women in Nefertari's temple were really beautiful with all kinds of different hair styles and outfits, lot cooler to see then Ramses smiting just about everybody under the sun. Then the bus took us to the dam, big but not as tall as, say, Hoover. They have automated anti-aircraft stuff and hidden army guys because, if the dam were destroyed all of Egypt would flood in 14 days. Then to Philae, cool boat ride to the temple and the temple itself was really cool and scenic. Went to the train stationand bought tickets, only third class was available, but we took it. The cabin had 6 seats, it was upholstered but not very clean at all and the bathrooms were so BEYOND vile that I didn't pee during the entire 12 hour trip.
