We arrived in Phnom Penh after a 6 hour bus journey - which was surprisingly not too bad considering the 6.30am start and myself & Kev going on the lash again. After a siege of tuk-tuk drivers swarming us upon arrival we went straight to the Number 9 guest-house which is, in the end, where we stayed for our 4 days here. Although it was cooler outside our room than inside it :o), we met some really cool people here and had some good nights together. Greetings to the Israeli babes Neta (see you in Oz) and Adi, Julie, Simon, Holly and everyone else.

There's not alot of cultural things to do in Phnom Penh but there are some must-sees including the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng (S-21). [For those who don't know this is where thousands of Cambodians were tortured and killed during the Pol Pot regime (1970's).] We also checked out the National Museum which we thought was a disappointment considering it is the National museum.
Phnom Penh - fun times had..
There's a tonne of pubs and nightclubs here, but unfortunately it seems things are in the low season and alot of them were very quiet. Our first night out was eventful considering some hooker treatened Kev if he didn't go home with her she'd kill him. We left soon afterwards :o)

The next night was less eventful - no evil hookers - but was fun and for a good cause. We went to a local restaurant which hold weekly quizzes with the funds going to the local children's orphanage. Unfortunately, either the winners didn't catch the concept of the evenings proceedings or were poor (selfish) backpackers as they wouldn't donate the winnings ($61) to the orphanage :o(
Our last night began having drinks on the street with all the tuk-tuk drivers (incredibly annoying by day, good fun with several bottles of Mekong Whiskey in them), followed by the Heart of Darkness nightclub (a mixture of locals, hookers and farang). We partied hard seemingly without a thought about the day of travel we had in store for us (read start of next journal entry).

Overall we spent 9-10 days in Cambodia and we really enjoyed it. You hear different things before coming to a country and you build up a perception in your head how you think it will be. Cambodia was similiar in some ways (the roads etc.) and it is a bit on your senses but I'd definitely recommend going there.
