Guangzhou

Frankly speaking, I don't like Guangzhou, there are too many people come from all over the world to station there to do business. You will see all types of people from different provinces, they look very different, you can tell by their dressing. I've few encounter meeting rude and unhelpful people, these people let me feel that they just want to earn money, anything you need does not give them money, they will not care about your present.

Dislike the people in Guangzhou

What I don't like the most was the service I get at the train station, the workers there were horrible, the station itself were pack with many people, people waiting to buy ticket, people waiting for their time to check in, people waiting to fetch their friends and relatives.

At the train station, there is an Information Counter (Enquiry counter), it is straightforward when you see this sign, you are there to ask question and expected for answer, right? What happen was; There was a lady stand there with her back facing you, everyone were queue waiting for her to turn over, facing the front and provide her service to the people. But I was standing there for more than 5 minutes, she don't care about the people who were queue for so long, there were people queue for very long, give up and walk away, when come to my turn, I knock at the glass screen, hoping that she will turn over look at me but she didn't even bother". As a foreigner, what I don't know I need to find out but I get no help.

I've no choice, wasting so much time queuing for nothing, I've to find out by myself, I was force toread unfamiliar Chinese words. When I got some idea how their trains operate and the hour of the train, I begin to queue to book my train ticket for my next destination.

The very first day I was arrived in Guangzhou I've already got some bad encounter with the people (not too sure were they local people or from other province). The hostel and hotel were so expensive, I can't stay there for long, furthermore I don't like the place and I decided to move on to the next province.

Even on my last day in Guangzhou, I'd a bad encounter with the la mei (beef noodle) stall owner, I was so angry when I've ordered a bowl of beef noodle, the stall guy give me noodle without beef, the next moment he was serving another local guy noodle with beef, I told him off and ask him to change, otherwise, I'll not eat, he don't care, when I see his attitude was so bad, I decided to walk away to go for another stall, when he saw me not paying and not eating, he shouted for me, asking me to come back and he will change for me. Since his service was so bad, I don't think, he can make any better to the bowl of the noodle, I don't care and walk away to another stall. That bowl of beef noodle cost 5 Yen and had no beef, I went to another stall, I paid 4 Yen with all the meat, vegetables and good service.

Over all was not how much was a bowl of the noodles it was the service I got that pissed me off.

Well, if you ask me was there anything good that I like in Guangzhou?

Yes, it was the day I was with my Shanghai friend together. We contact via email to inform each other that we were be going to Guangzhou, so we were meeting in Guangzhou via sms (short message sending) where to meet up. We had a wonderful day together. Her husband ordered seafood for me during the dinner, all the dishes were so tasty and delicious, some of the seafood I've never seen it in our country and they really taste good.

See next page for next province.

Afa says: Is a city life, if you goes there for business is okay, but not for leisure. Posted 11/8/2005 12:06:06 PM ( permalink ) Asia Walker says: I agree with you, I had some kind of same experience. Traveling is an adventure, you can not expect everything same style like in the west.
