So it's started, and the first stop is (for a few more days at least) New York, which is quite different from how I expected it to be and yet not really different at all (time to make no sense huh - and yes I am sober from last night...)

Central park was far larger than I would have expected and obviously well used by the locals even in the midst of winter, but as the accomadation I used was right on the edge of it, it was really easy to explore.

Its been a fun place to visit and being here has changed some of my view's of America already except, wow at the serving sizes, who actually can finish them?  Given enough time, I guess anyone can but generally I would say most dishes could really be shared (unless you are really hungry).

Done the usual touristy things (not going to list all the places I have been) but I think one of the best moments was the view from the Empire state building at night; there is just something about looking down on a city at night that gives you a different perspective on a place, I am sure the view is very scenic in the day, but going there in the evening just seemed so much better to me.

One of the highlights for New York was simply meeting with a couple of friends the night before New Year, it was a great night and good to chat to friends for the night, so thanks to the both of you for meeting up, it was great fun.

Last night we headed to Times Square but since people had been camping out there from the day before (!) in the end we were close enough to see the ball, but too far away to see anything else bar the advertisments; with the no alcohol on the streets rule and a number of hours to go, we graciously retired to a bar to watch the ball drop on the TV and be warm and fuelled with a drink or two.

Not being the brightest spark on the block today, I have forgotten my camera lead to allow me to upload a picture or two from NY so far, I haven't been my usual snap happy self, but some of the pictures I took last night and swore were in perfect focus appear to be a little blurred I think maybe outside influences (alcohol) was at work there.

So when I get my act together I will add a few pictures to this review and if you stumble across it before I send out the links, well tough.

Next stop? well it may be Boston, not 100% sure but then I have a day or 2 to plan it yet, so plenty of time yet,

Central Park is well, something else, apart from HUGE! I know what you mean when you say "New York, which is quite different from how I expected it to be and yet not really different at all". It is though a fantastic place and views at night are very beautiful if that's the right word and gives you a whole different perspective.
