We have discovered that we are in the Wachau region, which is a world cultural heritage region and the campsite is situated next to Castle Schonbuel. It obviously merits a look so we drove to Melk and walked through the town, stopping for liquid refreshment of beer before visiting Melk Abbey. It has a very impressive collection of frescos and is one of the most beautiful examples of baroque architecture in the world. It certainly impressed us. Back at the campsite we have a stroll along the river Danube by the castle with the bottle of champers –cheers Mick!
