Hi everyone,

We watched the first dawn from the plane's window, going from complete blackness to a band of burnt orange, merging into yellow, greeny blue, deep blue then blackness. It was an amazing sight after no horizon for many hours prior.

On arrival to Oahu, at 7.30am, we spent our first day wandering about, in a zombie state of mind because we didnt get much sleep on the plane. Our first impressions of Hawaii were the beautiful mountains and swaying palms and a crystal blue ocean.

We enjoyed watching the sunset on Waikiki Beach, whilst scoffing down a few drinks and dinner from a great bar right on the beachfront.  On Tuesday we went on an all day mini bus tour right around the island.  Saw Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and the spots where they filmed Magnum PI, Lost, Jurassic Park and the beach scene in From Here to Eternity. There were three other Aussies on the bus plus a couple of yanks who were on leave from Iraq.

Tomorrow we head off for a tour of Pearl Harbour and the USS MIssouri as well as the flight museum and a WWII submarine.  SHould be good fun.  We fly out early Friday am and our next blog will be from LA.  COOL!!
