Late start, early night

Our first day was...crazy. Big surprise! We ended up sleeping at my cousin Spydah's place the night before since we didn't feel like crashing on an air mattress before we even got started. Though we were exhausted when we got up, Josh had his French final and I had to dye my hair pink! (Yes, I HAD to! Oh and for those that don't know, I also cut it super short for the trip.) We finshed packing the car and finally got underway around 4pm.

Our first stop was in Conneaut, OH at a little drive-in restaurant called the White Turkey (www.whiteturkey.com). World famous for their rootbeer floats and turkey sandwiches, we each had one and split an order of onion rings. YUMMY!

Because it was after 9 and we were so tired, we decided to get a hotel for our first night. We wanted some time to plan out the next few days (who me? Plan? No, NEVER!) and to actually SLEEP as opposed to these little naps we've been getting recently. Around the corner was a Day's Inn with Wi Fi, and since all the cute motels and bed and breakfasts were closed, we pulled in for the night. Equipped with our 4 travel books ( ROAD TRIP USA, The Most Scenic Drives In America, Lonely Planet USA [thanks Danni!!!] and 1000 Places To See Before You Die In the USA and Canada) we mapped out something of a route from now until we hit the playa:
