From Greece and the Great Mediterranean/Transatlantic Cruise in Limassol, Cyprus on Nov 29 '07
Visiting the island that Paul visited and Timothy.
Today we visited Limassol, Cyprus. After a quick in-room breakfast we boarded a bus for a tour of yet one more archeheological site and yet one more castle. The tour guide was a young woman who had trouble getting out what she wanted to say but we endured. The weather cooperated and after a cold day in transit to here it warmed up to about 72 degrees with a high overcast. At the end of the tour we wound up (as a part of it) in the old section of town for "shopping." As most of what we had seen prior was fairly unimpressive the majority of the folks opted to catch a shuttle back to the ship. Gram and I played Acey-Ducey and Gram said that I cheated on the first game just because I won. I told her that we would play a second game for control of the world and she waxed me unmercifuly! So much for not being able to cheat without her catching me! This was the first stop for Rene' when he exited Iraq. We drove past the entrance but never saw the inside. OK, that's it for me. Over to Gram. We drove past lots of orange, grapefruit, kiwi, and tangerine trees. Wow they have lots here! I think this just wasn't as interesting as the other places but still another country to tick off our list. Also, half the island is run by Turks and half are Greek Cyproits with one governament - not sure how that works. At sea tomorrow. Love to all!
