Nicks story.

This was one of my favourite places of the whole trip, a tiny seaside town, a walled Medina and the most relaxed attitude of any place we have visited.  We found a lovely Riad and walked in the main area without being disturbed.  We found fantastic food in tiny cafes and watched fisherman selling their fish.....obviously, they were fishermen after all!  One afternoon I climbed the storm wall and watched the world and the boats go by.  Essaouira has charm and peacefulness, something that has been missing in our lives for the past 9 months.  The weather was perfect and the people went about their lives, interacting with politeness and humour with the tourists.  For anyone coming to Morocco, add Essaouira on to your list, you will love it.

A must stop in Morocco, particularly when the weather is this good

Ronnies story

Essaouira is a cleaner, more fantastic version of Stone Town including all the narrow alleyways and incredible doors. The temperature is perfect thanks to the mild breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. It felt like a 'WOW' moment immediately on arrival. Like Marrakesh, Essaouira has numerous riads- charming hotels centered around open courtyards, with mosaic tiling and colorful lanterns... but unlike Marrakesh there are not hoards of tourists.

There is a working port were you can sit and watch the fishermen and swirling seagulls. Also inside the walled medina there are stalls which sell clothes, jewelry, carpets, wooden crafts, food... anything and everything you could possibly ever want. It was too overwhelming for me so I did not buy anything. Instead I sat for hours people watching in outdoor cafes. Oh and the food was inexpensive and delicious. What more could you ask for in a place?
