Customs on Holiday

Customs into Malaysia when coming form Singapore, is a test of patience.  A mob of people surge towards the customs officers in what initially looks like no order whatsoever.  No arrival cards are available on entering the building so we went into the security office to get ours.  On joining the queue again, we noticed a shorter line off to the side so we joined that.  We waited in the heat with the fan intermittently blowing on us and noticed our good choice in line.  The desks weren't in a straight row, but jaggered so even though a line ended at the same point near the entry door, some of these lines were much longer than others.  We don't know how long it took to get through, but it felt like our day was eaten up waiting.  They should take some notes from the Singapore customs.

The bus took us to the Johor Bahru bus terminal.  We decided we wanted to take the train to KL (after deciding not to go to Taman Negara due to lack of time) so jumped on a local bus.  The next train was leaving at 11:30pm and cost RM29 pp, we decided to go for it.

...it did have it's cringe-worthy moments.

We had a bit of time to spare, so after satisfying our rumbling stomachs, we took a look around a mall (it was raining).  This mall happened to have a movie theatre playing movies in English, and for only RM10pp!  The schedule said 300 was playing shortly, so we asked the ticket lady for tickets to that.  "Sorry, only at 11:15 tonight."  Huh?  How about Ghost Rider?  "Not playing tonight."  What's the point of having a timetable, paper and electronic, if it's not correct?  Mr Bean on Holiday was playing, so having nothing better to do, we settled on that.  It was alright for a Mr Bean movie, but it did have it's cringe-worthy moments.

The train was half an hour late, but it did give us a chance to stare at the more well-off enjoying themselves on the Bangkok-Singapore Oriental Express.  We'll have to try that out one day!

We fell asleep in the relative comfort of the Malaysian trains, to the tune of the Olsen Twins in New York Minute.
