Launceston (picking up our post)
From Trip Around Australia in Launceston, Australia on Feb 26 '07
Before the travel log continues its worth noting everyone’s emotional state. M needs to be bribed with a mini Mars bar in order to shower, wash her hair and clean up after herself. She is very cuddly and visits our bed every morning. A is competitive, loves to win and be sporty. She is generally happy to play at M’s level. PL is a perfectionist, nothing new. I am finding the 7/24 family time intense but rewarding but my temper has bubbled to the surface once or twice. At this point we are overwhelmed by school work – not sure when to fit it in, how to motivate the girls or how seriously to take it.
We took an odd route to the Bay Fires as we needed to pick up mail in Launceston. We stopped in Ross, a pretty little town in the heart of the wool region. We did a self guided tour of the “female factory”, which housed female convicts and their babies from 1847. PL did a “Doors of Ross” photo exposition which required us to walk through the village and look at all the historic buildings. In Launceston, I got a parking ticket as the car with trailer occupied 2 spaces! but this was our only fine all year. The girls discovered a new favourite Indian restaurant.
