Saturday we woke up fairly early in order to pack in another full day. We began by visiting the famous Notre Dame cathedral, which was surprisingly as incredible as it is built up to be. Having seen innumerable cathedrals since I’ve been in Europe I was a skeptical, but it truly was astounding. In front of the cathedral is a circle that depicts the exact city center of Paris upon which we all stood and had a little photo op. While inside the cathedral Julie and I lit candles, plus I signed the book of life. The concept of the book sounded appealing in that individuals from all over the world come to Notre Dame and write their personal obligations and promises to God in this one book. After touring the cathedral we walked across the street to another street vendor to indulge in the French delicacy, crepes, once more. This time I went for the sucre citron (lemon-sugar) crepes. Quite delicious…of course! By about 11:30 am we made our way over to the Marche aux Puces de Clignancourt, one of the largest flea markets in Europe, in order to do a little more Parisian shopping, not to mention some purchasing of Christmas gifts (get excited!!!). After the market we visited the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, also referred to the Sacred-Heart cathedral, which also proved to be beautiful. An added bonus was the hilltop upon which the Sacre-Coeur sat, from this point one can view the entire city.
