Day 18 - Maritime Museum
From Around The World In 280 Days in Auckland, New Zealand on Feb 19 '04
16.05 – Woke up early due to the noisy Czech’s I was sharing my room with. The day has come, as I knew I would, when I had to go food shopping. Everything is so expensive, a box of cornflakes (small box) cost $6 or £2.50! At least it should last me a while. After breakfast, I decided to go to the New Zealand National Maritime Museum. As I got there it started to rain and I also felt the sudden urge to go for a momentous shit! Ironically, in a city full of toilets, the nearest one was over 100 metres away which I ran to like an Olympic sprinter for instant relief. I sat there for 10 minutes or so soaked to the bone by the torrential rain. Anyway, the museum proved to be very interesting, although I could not take any pictures as I had recently discovered that I have lost my camera! I came back to the hostel via McDonalds again for dinner. They did not have it at reception there and I began to think the Czech’s might have nicked it. I had no idea where I might have left it so I went to the only other place I could think of where I went yesterday, the Sky Tower. After finding my way to lost property, I was relieved to find that someone had handed it in. I feel like the luckiest person in the world at the moment!
20.00 – I spent half the evening looking for somewhere to eat, eventually I ended up going back to the pup for fish and chips this time. I watched a bit of rugby then went to bed.
