We had been looking forward to visiting Thailand, and Phuket was more than we could have hoped for. A beautiful island with spectacular beaches (even considering some results of the Tusnami still in evidence).  Patoog beach was a highlight - especially an incredible Thai meal at a restaurant overlooking the shore at sunset.
