“Unlike the water parks of my youth, where you would spend the majority of your time climbing up endless stairs, these ... ” |
Well what do you do after a six day trip to the other side of the planet, trapped with the same strangers for the whole time? Easy go to the wather park with them! I was invited to Wild Wati Waterpark by the Jo and Evangeline along with Mikey. An offer I couldn’t refuse. The park is huge, and lies at the foot of the Burj Al Arab (the 7 star hotel, built out in the water, and symbol of Dubai… just look at the pictures, it is the funny looking building ).
So it know it seems somewhat childish but I must admit I had but I fun time. Unlike the water parks of my youth, where you would spend the majority of your time climbing up endless stairs, these slides “jet” you up! Ya, that is right, you sit in the tube and a series of jets push you up to the top, were you then slide down, the whole ride is quite long, lasting a good 10-15 minutes. There is also a wave ppol, child’s wave area and one of those artificial waves. Hard to explain but it is on of those waves that is constantly breaking, but doesn’t go anywhere (once again, see the picture). Now the cost is not cheap. It costs 165 Dirham ( $53 cdn) just to get in! There is a special deal, till the end of the month, that cabin crew can go for the much reduced rate of 30 dirham ($10cdn). So we splashed around all day, and that night Mickey, had us over for a BBQ. Nice place, I invited Antonio (friend from training). It was a great end to a great trip, I hope the rest of my trips are at least half as nice as these.
