Photo “the Lebanese Mafia picked up the tab...”

For what ever reason the weekend here is Friday and Saturday.  Here are some photos from last night with some of the crew. We went to the Irish Village that is adjacent to the training college. I little oasis of western culture in the cultural wasteland that is Dubai. We had a waitress that was quite Irish and quite rude. Example: When the bill was paid there was a stack of Dirham coins, each worth about 30 cents, as well as paper bills. As we were getting up to leave she was clearing our table and took the bills and brushed the stack of coins on to the ground, which was cobble stones so made quite the sound. Lets just say I am glad I was buying my pints of Strongbow from the bar directly (never share a bill with a group of people you don’t know that well).

I was ready to head home after that, still suffering from my cold, but was dragged to a Lebanese bar by, strangely enough, a Hirma (one of the girls in our class) and her boy friend whom was visiting from Kuwait. The prospect didn’t appeal, but when we got there the place was nice, ornate. We had a bottle at the table, and a server that mixed drinks for us. And the kicker huge platters of cheeses and fruits! So I gorged myself on exotic cheese and fruit while listening to Lebanese pop tragedies song by a “lounge singer type,” you all know the type. We were joined by Hirma’s brother and his wife (man I wish I got a photo of her…for the blog of course) she was…very striking. Big frow (for lack of a better word) of blond hair (real), tight dress with a plunging neckline, I mean down to the belly button, and huge breasts that took all the effort of every man and some woman not to stare at. And she was really, really nice. Very down to earth. She is cabin crew for Emirates as well.

So we ( the table ) ate and laughed, I really enjoyed it. I split with the non Lebanese contingent of my coworkers around 1 am… right before the dancing. Oh, did I mention that the Lebanese Mafia picked up the tab?

Hi Hun! Nice to be able to read up on what is going on in your life. Too bad about the hot wife's pictures. So, all these beautiful international women and still single? try a different strategy. It's Feb 4 today and as of yet I have not received an early acceptance to UBC MSc. I have a feeling it's not going to happen. Oh well... However, I have decided on a plan B. I'm applying for a Masters of Health Administration at UBC for Sept 2007. Not a very exciting career but pays well. I'm going to Bali with Lawrence for the second week of March though! that should be fun, though hope we don't get bombed. Oh and Vancouver is due for a point 9 earthquake sometime this week. Chances are above average so the city's been pretty much freaking. All I can say is that I'm glad I moved out of my 26 floor apartment! XXXOOXO AC

Hey Lionel, Glad to hear you found some fun in the desert, and are making friends. How tough can the Lebanese Mafia be anyway?
