Well what did I get up to today? Make up, ya that is right, we had health class. They taught us how to give ourselves manicures, clean our face, eat and exercise… I can’t figure out if it an age thing or a culture thing. I guess it makes sense; they want us all to look good, all the same up good as well. After the pampering lesson the boys were excused while the girls did a class on make up. An hour and a half they came down all looking like the girls from that Robert Palmer video, hair tied back and bright red lips stick. Oh, I forgot to mention that we are now wearing our uniforms (photo’s attached.) It also rained to day, apparently quite a rarity around here. Not hard or anything, just enough to get the roads wet. I am waiting for the difficult level of education they warned us about. So far nothing.
The roommate has been away for the last few days. I have had the place all to myself, kinda lonely. I am really isolated from my batch mates; were they share buildings, if not apartments, my closest counterpart is blocks away. There are only a few emirate employees in the building, compared to droves that board at other destinations. The segregation makes me feel somewhat segregated. Say-la-vie.
Yesterday we had the medical part where we all pissed into a cup… not the same one (no picture attached), and then we were given complete physicals. I passed the visual part with out my contacts or glasses so my flying licence will not require them! YA! I found out we need to have a licence to fly?! I also got immunized for Menigitius, Yellow Fever, and Typhoid… again. Then we had a lecture on health. Very grade 8, condoms, birth control, STDs etc. As well we learned all about the medical system at work. All in all quite boring. And we picked up the rest of out uniforms.
The day before yesterday we had “The corporate Induction” were we learned all about the company. There were some pilots there. Nice enough guys, one was form Victoria. Mike Holland. We talked for a while, he was been here for only a week or so. I think it is weird how Canadians well take the time to find other Canadians in the room just to say high.
Tomorrow we start SEP (Safety and Emergency Protocol or something like that). That should be more challenging, and something I should be able to sink my teeth into. As well tomorrow is out Friday, I say our Friday because Dubai has the weekend on the Friday and Saturday.

Lionel, It sounds like being a flight attendant requires a lot of training. You will have to share your manicure fresh feet smelling tips with us. Well, it looks like you have done a great job of going out and meeting the locals and exploring the area. We will continue to check in on your blog. Hopefully, you will find a way to play with the others and then go back to your peaceful dwelling and get some rest. Feel better:)
