Today we were picked up by Rowena, an Australian girl from Perth whom we met in The Tiger Leaping Gorge in China. Rowena was travelling through China and Tibet with Charlie when we met them and now live in Dorrigo.

Charlie is originally from the UK and ended up buying a stretch (104 acres...) of land in the Dorrigo area about a year ago and had a house built onto it, which had only recenltly been finished.

So we drove from Byron Bay to Dorrigo, about a 4 hrs drive (but that does not seem to be unusual for the Australians...). Dorrigo is situated about an hour land inwards of Coffs Harbour and Grafton South, on Coastal New South Wales.

Once heading land inwards the scenery was just amazing, better than anything we had seen so far in Australia. Charlie's place was literally in the middle of nowhere, in the rainforest and along a river. We were greeted by kangaroos, kookaburras and lorikeets.

Enjoyed our own bedroom with bathroom since leaving Asia and had a bbq on the terrace.

The next day we were treated to a delicious breakfast before heading of to Dorrigo National Park together with Rowena. Charlie did not join us as he had been bitten by ants the day before and his foot was sore and swollen.

The park is included on the World Heritage List and is one of Australia's most accessible rainforests. We walked the Wonga Walk, a 5.8 km circuit walk. We saw brush turkeys and a pademelon (looks like a small kangaroo). We had lunch in Bellingen, known as one of the prettiest and most characterful towns in New South Wales. Next was a coffee stop in Dorrigo and then back to Charlie's place. That night we had dinner at a tiny wooden restaurant and enjoyed a nice piece of Kangaroo (you would really enjoy it dad).
