what is a beach comber? maybe i'm, one. i used to like the show. hmmmmm.

Ok, WHAT a bus ride. no...what 3 bus rides. from jaipur to diu, including stopovers we were traveling for 27 hours. it can take it's toll on you. my mood went from good, to down, to lower still, to up a bit, to down, then back up.  the worst part must have been the second local bus we got on. i was feeling quite tired by this time, and all i wanted to do was sleep. the rickety old bus had different plans in store for me, however. as i rested my back against my oversized  backpack and attempted to sleep (by this time i had gotten over the sheer dirtiness of the bus, and didn't care that my face, hands, and fingernails were all black) the bus shook, showing it's displeasure of my desire to sleep. the engine growled like a hungry bear, every piece of metal clangged relentlessly, and there was this strange banging noise that seemed to be coming from nowhere, but sounded and felt like a peg was trying to be pounded into my head with a piece of wood, only adding to my already splitting headache.  to make matters worse, every time i started to drift off we'd hit a bump, and i would get about 3 feet of air.

you can imagine my discomfort. slowly, however, i came to accept my surroundings and stopped driving myself mad by concentrating on every annyoing noise. i started laughing at flying in the air when hitting bumps,i made friends with some curious indian girls, ate some oranges, read life of pi, and relaxed.

i was in a good frame of mind by the time we reached diu, a small island in the arabian sea. this town is CHILLED. very few foriegn tourisits, very slow paced compared to the rest of india, and very small town like.  me likey. there are beaches, it's hot, we have hash...all the ingredients for a good time. spent the last 2 days getting brown/red on the beach.   we also met some cool peeps last night at a BBQ (great meal of makeral, shark, veggies and pototo). there was a german dude and his korean girl friend. jen and i enjoyed practicing our limited korean vocab with the korean girl, and enjoyed smoking and talking about spiritual things with her boyfriend.

this fact may come as a surprise to some, but jen and i have practically cut out all forms of alcohol. not intentionaly, but just out of lack of desire. i'm kinda liking it, but it may not last for long as our next destination is  goa, famous for it's parties.

i wanna write more, but it's time to go back to my cockroach infested room. i've come to accept the roaches as a part of everyday life, and we have an understanding now: they don't touch me and they live. they touch me and (to jen's animal loving despair) i may have to get violent.
