We were up and on our way by 9:30 CST. We made a side detour over to Seaside. Jeannie had told us about it. We're so glad that she did. We fell in love with it. It's very cute and quaint with lots of unique cottages. Dad and I got a snack at Pickle's Beachside Grill, we looked at some of the shops in the open-air market area, then went on the beach for a few minutes. From there we drove through some of the Watercolor Resort, then walked around. Lots of cool houses. We looked in the windows of one that was almost 2 million dollars! Very, very nice!! We headed back over near the beach, walked around and went into a wine bar for a few minutes. They had some cool art on the walls.
We made our way back towards Destin after that. We stopped at Baytowne Wharf - lots of restaurants - then stopped again at Silver Sands Outlets. Dad did more shopping than us. Mom and I were waiting on him!
From there we finally made our way to the beach in Destin. We got our beach chairs out and sat in the sand enjoying the day waiting for the sun to set over the Gulf of Mexico. The sand felt absolutely wonderful on my feet. It's very fine grained, like sugar. After the sun set, we did a little more shopping, then searched for McGuire's Irish Pub. The Abercrombie's told us they had great beer and the best burgers. They weren't kidding! I had the sampler of all their beers, Dad ordered a Spinach Artichoke Dip for appetizer and I had a Grilled Onion Mushroom Blackened Swiss Burger. Mmm Mmmm! The beer I enjoyed the most was their Irish Stout. Their Wild Irish Raspberry Wheat wasn't too bad either. It had a different taste. We looked around in the gift shop, then headed back to Panama City. I drove since Dad was tired. We got back at about 10. I read some, then headed for dreamland.
Side Note: I like Destin and love Seaside so much better then Panama City. Panama City Beach is nice, Panama City not so much. It's old and needs some updating. Our condo and the resort here is great though. We're really enjoying it. But if I get down this way again, I'd prefer Seaside or Destin.
