We continued on to Derby and saw alot of Boab trees along the way. The trunk of the tree can swell and hold up to 14,000 l of water. We stopped at some along the way, they are interesting to look at and climb. By derby there is a tree called the Boab prison tree it was actually used to house aboriginal prisoners en route.

Derby was by the ocean however the town is surrounded by mud flats, so there was no swimming here. There are also saltwater crocodiles here so we checked out the pool instead.

There are 4 tides in a day in Derby and the tides are the biggest in Australia. Adrian did some fishing on the jetty and could realy notice the difference. The pillars would vary from being almost all the way covered to being 10 ft out of the water.

On sunday we worhipped with the Baptist church and really enjoyed it and were encouraged by the preaching.

We travelled along to Fitzroy crossing, the aboriginal population is really big here. Some do get into trouble here and we watched one man being threatened with pepper spray.

Decided not to stay in town so we drove on to Geikie Gorge carpark and stayed the night there ready to go on the cruise in the morning.

We must look like a hungry family because somebody else gave us a fish to eat it was a Barramund. Adrian had to clean it yet this fish had scales the size of a dollar coins, what a mess that made. But the fish tasted great.
