Today began with Kim and Billy sleeping off the flight while I went in to work for a couple of hours. Thankfully it didn’t take too long. I may not have woken up as early as I did, except for the little guy choosing a rather bizarre sleeping position encompassing two beds!

The weather was beautiful (about 30 degrees) so we decided to spend the day at the Six Flags Theme Park in Denver (Elitch Gardens). This was a great move, although we didn’t get there until about 11:30am, the park was definitely not packed (at least by Aussie standards). We never waited more than about 15 minutes for a ride and the number of rides and size of the park was amazing.

Billy loved the Dodgem cars and was extremely aggressive, so we’ve decided he can drive in Italy. Kim actually went on a proper ride (yes Billy rode on it too but wisely decided to ride with me). She stated that she spent the entire time trying not to throw up (and succeeded), I got a dressing down by the ride operator – I wasn’t allowed to force her onto any further rides.

It’s only day 2 and Billy already needs another suitcase to hold his ‘theme park’ winnings (or as Kim says crap carnival toys – she hates stuffed toys) - A Pug, Unicorn and large a Sonic the Hedgehog. Billy is not fond of ‘real live’ cartoon characters and ran anytime a life size Scooby Doo or Bugs Bunny appeared around the corner, he did however shake Batman’s hand after a live Batman & Robin vs the Riddler & Two Face show.

Food Watch

We’ve eaten far too much junk food and tomorrow hopefully we’ll retreat back to normal food. It’s way too easy (and comparatively cheap) to live on burgers and soft drink!

It’s only been two days and I’m already sick of non-diary creamer, give me a hotel with milk in the fridge – or a Starbucks downstairs. I am however getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road and have determined after watching someone trying to park in a narrow car space in our hotel car park that I’m at least better than one US driver.

Tool of the Day

After taking Billy on a ride he really didn’t want to go on (ending in everyone getting wet and a big splash), Kim asked me to take a photo of Billy in front of the car after we had exited. I got in position to take the shot, and all of a sudden everyone appeared to be looking past me…the next car landed and sent a heavy shower of water all over me, I was absolutely soaked (much more so than from the ride itself). Everyone had a good laugh...haha guys!
