India is humanity in motion, and even at 10:30 at night the area outside the Delhi airport was crowded with people waiting to greet loved ones. The air outside the airport was heavy with haze and the smell of cooking fires. India in so many was is indescribable, you need every sense just to begin to understand the experience. We gathered all our bags (all 6 made it!) and headed out to find a taxi to the 'domestic terminal' that is a 20 minute drive away.
Our taxi driver was everything you could hope for in a 'first taxi driver in India.' He loaded up our bags with a gap toothed rotting smile, and even when he slammed his finger in the door he just kept grinning at us.
In my first hour in India these are the things I saw:
1 motorcycle / taxi accident. a handful of mangy dogs a few cows 1 sari clad woman riding side saddle as a motorcycle passenger several crazy Indian trucks 3 people riding on a motorcycle then 4 people riding on a motorcycle
After buying tickets to Bagdogra we set up camp in the terminal to wait for our flight ten hours later. . .
