"A Serval shot across the road this afternoon. An exceptionally rare cat and also the ubiquitous hyenas could be seen in the distance. They travel immense distances looking for food as they fan out across the plains. One big surprise was seeing a wild cat. "The grey/pink hippos were mostly submerged underwater with just their ears and nostrils showing. They were crammed together letting out their grunts once in a while and would erupt into fights – with great teeth showing. I was on a small ledge near the pool coated with slippery rocks and mud. Watching where you put your feet is a major concern. We were very near the hippos and those yawning teeth were intimidating. Although I didn’t see it people next to me saw a crocodile slip into the water. "
