From Leah: Just a quick note. We have made it safely to Darjeeling. After 3 days of travel, very little rest, extra plane rides, hassling with taxi cab drivers, etc. We got a private jeep to Darjeeling, we have to go now to find another privitae jeep, because we have so much stuff with all the medical supplies!! After a good nights rest (last night) we had a great breakfast this morning, and now we are going to track down another private jeep to Rimbick this afternoon. Everything has been very smooth. All baggage has come through, we have managed to get exactly where we need to go!
It's been amazing. Almost, like I never even left this area of the world, although the last time I was here was a year ago. Its crazy how fast you fall into another culutre and get comfortable. My nepali is starting to come back.
I love you all soo much. I will be out of touch for another three weeks as we are going to make our way to Rimbick tonight, and then start trekking into Daragon Village early tomorrow morning.
From Loy: Leah was a little overwhelmed as the date of departure from the US approached. She was working on moving out of her appartment as well as working two jobs and getting all packed up for her trip. The girls took with them 3 "Cure Kits" which are giant kits filled with much needed medical equipment for areas of the world that need it the most. I added some pictures that Leah had sent me of the laborious packing process, in which they took all of the supplies out, organized them, put all the possible leakage containers into ziplocks, and then repacked them in boxes and big duffel bags.
The Project C.U.R.E. mission statement: "To identify, solicit, collect, sort and distribute medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world." If you are interested in looking at the details of Project C.U.R.E., their website is great: www.projectcure.org/
