The ancient and historic city of Agra, is perhaps most famous as the home of the majestic Taj Mahel, built in the 1600's as a present to Mumtaz Mahal, from the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Considered the greatest example of Mughal architecture, the Taj Mahel is not the only attraction in this area - the Agra Fort is well worth a visit, located less than 2 miles from the Taj Mahal. Both have been designated by Unesco as World Heritage Sites.
