Day 1 {4 Oct}

Arrived in Cuzco bus station and met up with a girl called Helen and shared a taxi to the Hostel, we had the name from one of our guide books.  When the taxi couldn't go up the street we had to climb the steps - I've never felt so old, we had to stop every few steps to catch our breath, if this is what altitude does for you I think I can do without it!!!

Loki is a big hostel and there are lots of people going on to Machu Picchu, so we got talking to people straight away after we had been allocated to our dorm.

Didn't do much the first day, just tried to acclimatise.

Day 2 {5 Oct}

Happy birthday Stephanie

Had a look around Cuzco and got our barrings.  It is quite a tourist town and the locals come up to you all the time trying to get you to buy stuff, it can get quite irritating actually.  There are a lot of alpaca garments and silver jewelry to buy, but it's expensive to post home and I don't have room in my rucksack for all the things I want to buy so have to keep my hands in my pockets!!!

From  the hostel there is a great view of the mountains and the surrounding town.  I think this is a really great choice, we've met some great people and we are having a really great time.  {Too many really greats huh!!!}

Made contact with the travel agent we booked the Inca trail through and have arranged to meet the guide and sort out our rickets for the Amazon trail as well.

The guide came to the hostel and told us what was entailed in the trail and what we need to take with us.  A bit disappointed as there isnĀ“t a porter included which we thought there was, so this means we have to carry all our own stuff , we'll have to pare it to the minimum.

Day 3 {6 Oct}

Spent the day going round the local shops and sorting out for the Inca trail, not much to talk about really. Still gettin used to the altitude!!!
