Went on a guided tour around the Sacred Valley which runs just north of Cusco. The ruins visited were Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Both ruins were very interesting. I had the tour guide dump me off at the last ruin Ollatatambo where I took a train to Aguas Calientes and stayed the night, then early woke up and took a bus to Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu was amazing and mysterious. It was everything it was hyped up to be. The best part was climbing to the top of the mountain next to it and looking down at the ruins. Also, it was very trecherous to climb that mountain because the trail was very steep and wound around the edge of cliffs with often no guardrails. The whole trek up that hill and down to the Temple of the Moon (and back up before you could go down) was about 3 hours of pure climbing hell, but was totally worth it and I think was even better than the ruins themselves. That night I went to a bar Mama Africas and because I wasn't tired enough from hiking and getting sunburned, I went out until 4am dancing.
Next I am off to Lake Titicaca and Copacabana Bolivia, and then down into Bolivia for a 3 day tour or so, then going to Iguazu Falls then Buenos Aires Argentina.

Hello Melissa, I really enjoyed your blog and I'm delighted to hear that Mama Africa's is still going strong after all these years. We did the Inca Trail in January 1996 and of course, there were no blogs in those days so I learned how to create a web site to document my journal and pictures.
