Hi All,
I know, it´s been a few weeks since my last travel blog - sorry - I have been so busy having an absolute blast.
I went to La Paz in Bolivia for a few days - what a mental city! The pollution, dead Lama`s for sale - and thats just the beginning (I was happy to make it there after a bus ride from hell!!!).
After a few days in La Paz - which included visiting San Pedro prison & browsing the witches market (where they sell potions which are undescribable); I headed back to Cusco to begin my 4 day hike on the Inca Trail.
The Inca Trail began by being picked up from my hotel at 5am (first challenge), I then met the only 2 other people on the trek with my (besides out porters, cook & tour guide) - they were 2 americans (second challenge) who were also christians (third challenge!). Now, I`m not the kind of person to judge others, however, being stuck on a 4 day trek with 2 american christians is not exactly my idea of an awesome time!
The trek was the hardest thing I have ever done - hiking through the Andes in the rain is not the most glamorous of expereinces....lets just put it down to `character building`!
After 4 days of hiking we reached Macchu Picchu - one of the seven wonders of the world, it was amazing - it totaly took my breath away, I was gob smacked - the place left we speachless - which is sursprising in itself - I can usualy talk under water!
2 days after the Inca trail I went white river rafting, which was the most awesome expereince (and bloody freezing!). The boat that I was on could not stop laughing...lets just say that the guide was not impressed with us - but we had a great time!
Will write another entry soon - the rest of my time in Peru included a Toga party, a couple of nights out drinking (getting homeafter the sun got up!!) and loads of shopping!
I`m currently at Lima international airport, waiting to board my flight to Chille - I`ll be there for a few days before I head to Rio (I can´t wait to get a tan!!). Rio will be fun, but I`ve only just mastered a few words in Spanish....now I have to get my head around speaking portugese!!!
Until next time Amego`s
Chow x
