We were obviously mainly in Cuzco for the Inca Trail, however we had 4 days to spare so decided to make the most of it.

Cuzco is a great place for partying, so we did a bit of that. Ps Hostel Loki has a great bar with fantastic views over the city. It even has pub quiz for charity on Monday nights.

It has a lot of Inca stuff, so we did a lot of that.

It has many markets, so we shopped till we dropped. Yes we have funny Inca hats and scarfs etc.

In summary, we had a great time in Cuzco. shame we couldn't stay longer.

A bit of flesh to the bones:

We bought the tourist ticket which enabled to visit many Inca remains. first up was Pisaq, which we visited on Sunday, market day. The market is good (and there are some cafes which sell english books at a reasonable price), but the remains are spectacular. Good prep for machu Piccu methinks.

One day we caught a cab to a few kms out of town and walked back via many impressive remains, not least Saqsaywaman where some of the stones used in the walls are 130 tonnes. goodness knows how they got those into place. We had a tour guide for Q'enqo, which was well worth it. Really learnt a lot.

We also managed to visit the Inca Museum. Very informative if you want to find out a bit more.

One day was spent biking down cliffs while visiting Inca remains. This was great fun, although I am not sure Gini thought quite the same about it! It really was downhill over tough terrain. Much harder than the death road we did the other week. I really enjoyed and didn't manage to come off. A feat that one of the guides didn't even mange. Checked out the Inca salt planes at ?? and also the Inca greenhouse-like experimental thing at Morras. All very interesting and pretty amazing. Shows how the Incas made most use of the land.

As for partying, no need to say much really as it is obvious, apart from I enjoyed a nice pint of IPA in the Crosse Keys!
