It's hard to believe that I have been without a job for an entire month.  Now I know what those people without jobs mean when they say that they find things to do to completely fill their days without working.  Of course, it's a bit different here because I do have four hours of class every day, but it's also just easy to fill my time.

I had a good time this past weekend.  I went to a movie on Saturday night - saw a movie from Brussells (Mannekin Pis - in whatever language they speak in Brussells with Spanish subtitles) - which was good and luckily avante guarde because it was a little difficult for me to understand.

On Sunday, I went with my family to Ingapirca, the Incan ruins about an hour from Cuenca. They were pretty cool to see, apparently the biggest ruins in Ecuador.  They were built around 600 years ago.  You can also see in these pics there is the 'face of an Incan' naturally in the side of the mountain and the surrounding really gorgeous countryside.   I went with Eulalia and Victor, my host parents.

One of the interesting things about this place is that everyone talks about OVNIs (that's the Spanish version of UFOs).  Everyone has either seen them, believes in them, or adamantly believes that what they see are actually aircraft from the U.S. or other countries spying on Ecuadorians. Some people think this is how ruins like Macchu Picchu were formed.  Anyway, I really want to see a UFO!  How cool would that be?

I had a crush on that guy Xavier for about 4 days which I am now totally over.  He's really really nice, but ummmm.... I don't think so. :) The dealbreaker was in a conversation I had with him over the weekend.  He said to me, 'It's been so long since I met someone like you.. someone who understands me the way that you do...'   I started laughing outloud when he said that because... you know, I can barely understand half of what he's saying to me.  So, I think that is like the international secret of men: don't talk a lot and ask a lot of questions and be generally less opinionated than normal.  So, that is the end of that.  :)  Next!

Pics soon and more to come.
