Lake Como - Italy...Part II..With Emily

After picking up Emily in Zurich we head into Italy from Interlaken.  On the way we stop at Mount Rosa just on the Swiss/Italian boarder and go up the chairlift, but we cannot find it so we go up a gondola which takes us to the top of Mount  Moro and to Lake Smeraldo and the golden statue of the Virgin of the Snow.  Emily has never hiked around like this so we take our time, but she is a natural and we make it to the top in no time.  As it is pretty cloudy we cannot make out the Matterhorn near Zermatt which was our plan, but we spot something equally and possibly more special, a family of mountain goats or rams.  A dad for sure and 3 babies.  They are sooooo cute and Emily and I took a load of pictures as they were not afraid of us and quite entertaining.  While we were waiting for the Gondola down we went into the little restaurant at the top of the mountain and had Profiteroles and Coke...just enough sugar to keep us going until we reach Lake Como.

Our accomodations are perched on the edge of the lake and have just about any activity we could ask for.  We get changed and showered and have dinner right next to the lake where we are attacked by kamakazee moths who are determined to have a taste of our dinner.

The next day, we swing open our shutters to the most spectacular view.  A postcard right outside our window.  We discuss our options and decide that since we had such a long day yesterday we will chill out by the lake.  Emily discovers Lemon Granita and we jump on the water trampoline, kayak, swim and sunbathe to our hearts content until we are rudely interrupted at 4 pm by a nasty thunder and lightening storm.  We head into Bellagio for a bit of retail therapy and I introduce Emily to the Italian version of drinks at 5 pm when you get snacks and sit and watch the world go by.

Bellagio is nice, but to be honest if you are looking for a relazing holiday, the town of Lezzone is perfect and you can access Bellagio by bus, boat or car in about 10 minutes.

Lake Como is stunning and I can see why George has choosen it for his vacation place....still no sign of him....the stalking continues
