Emma´s View:
We went on a lovely tour of the Colca Canyon region. We are not used to being guided, but it was nice to have someone else make all the desicions for us for a couple of days.
To gt to the Canyon you have to go up to altitudes of 5000 metres + so altitude sickness can be a problem. Luckily the South American cure all (coca leaves, basically the leaves of the plant that cocaine is made out of) was on hand to make us high so we weren´t aware that we were feeling dizzy, sick and short of breath.
The Canyon really was beautiful. The bonus part of the trip is to see the flight of the condor over the canyon (the biggest birdy in the world). As with any must see you had to get up at 5 am to get a chance to see the view. We were lucky and got to see the birds both up close (when perched) and flying. These birds are like the jumbo Jets of birds. Their bodies are massive and leave you woundering how they can be so agile in the air.
