The opera was great! Italians love to applaud. They did it for about ten minutes. Lots of bowing and flowers and shouts! After the performance the Dean of the Music School took everyone involved in the performance (and us) out for a 12 course meal!!!! We finished eating at 2:30 a.m. (Yes, we were hungry the next morning!)
We picked up our Fiat Punto and drove to Cinque Terre in about 2 1/2 hours from Milan. We are presently walking the quaint streets of Monterosso al Mare.
We have rented a small apartment for two days. We have our own kitchen, terrace, and plum tree with fresh, ripe, juicy yellow plums. We are off to find some seafood for dinner.
More later. No grandchild yet. No luggage yet. No equipment to put pictures in the blog. Pray that we get our luggage in Venice. British Air is hopefully sending it there.

I know Chris & Astrid are too busy to post anything because they are taking Sebastian home today and Bud, Kathy & Eric may not have e-connectivity, but I do know they connected with Chris earlier today so I will not be sharing news they don't know - SO I will post the baby news. Sebastian Martin Downs was born 7/11/07, approx noon PT; 8lbs.9oz; 21 inches - Father & Mother doing great; Sebastian is a great baby - sleeping, eating and only crying what those doctors interrupt his day.
