Our first stop in NZ was in Christchurch which is a smallish town nice to stroll around in and felt miles away from Melbourne. In the way that some places in Oz felt a bit American this place felt very english with its quaint little gardens and church´s.
It was easy to explore this place in a day so our main priority was to rent a car and we managed to get one from Quality car rentals for the bargain price of NZ$16 a day. An absolute steal compared to what we paid for one in OZ!
We also visited the Antarctic Centre by the airport which was really excellent. We got to experience a wind chill factor of - 30 degrees ( so well and truly acclimatised to cold weather now) and see some cool little penguins.
Right time to get some petrol and tour around NZ.
